Calligraphy workshop at Blenheim Vineyards

It was such a delight to host my first calligraphy workshop on 19 March at Blenheim Vineyards, as part of Blenheim's Library Series.

We had a full class of 15 fun (and naturally gifted!) ladies, and enjoyed a cozy afternoon in the vineyard library with a glass of fabulous Blenheim wine.

A special treat was having my former foster puppy, sweet Laszlo, there. Laszlo belongs to the head of events at Blenheim, and I haven't seen him since he was a wee pup. He has turned out to be such a handsome boy!

I really enjoyed this foray into teaching, and I hope to host more beginner's calligraphy workshops in the future. Many thanks to Blenheim for the opportunity and to all of the lovely students!

Calligraphy prints for sale!

Just in time for the holidays, I have some calligraphy prints for sale. Check them out in the shop!

Prints start at $25.

Prints can also be framed for you in advance, which adds a nice extra touch and saves you some time and money. I love this option; I'm always pressed to find suitable, sensible frames when giving art.

PLUS, between now and 25 December, proceeds from print sales will benefit New City Arts Initiative, a nonprofit that's near and dear to my heart. New City Arts aims to benefit local artists and create engagement between artists and the community in my town, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Check out the prints in the shop or on my Society6 page.

Style updates: Bloom

Finally having my own room to practice calligraphy has been the greatest gift. I feel like I have more mental space and creative license with my work.

That said, I've been tinkering with some of my styles. Notably, BLOOM has taken a slightly different form than it has in the past, and I like the fun, wild direction it's following. I'm still not sure where I want to take Basho; still musing on that.

Ready for spring over here!
